University of Basrah – College of Agriculture Holds a Seminar on Implementing Climate-Smart Agricultural Projects

 

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kazem Al-Asadi, President of the University of Basrah,
and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Mohammed, Dean of the College of Agriculture,
the Technology Incubator Unit at the College of Agriculture organized a scientific seminar entitled “Implementing Climate-Smart Agricultural Projects” as part of its efforts to promote sustainable agriculture and address climate change challenges.

The seminar aimed to introduce the concept of Climate-Smart Agriculture and highlight its importance in achieving food security through innovative technologies that rely on digital transformation, remote sensing, and efficient natural resource management.
Key discussions focused on integrating technology into agricultural practices, developing adaptive farming systems, and encouraging entrepreneurial projects that support climate resilience and sustainable productivity.

The event also showcased ongoing student and research projects in smart irrigation, renewable energy applications, and environmental monitoring systems supported by the Technology Incubator Unit.

The seminar concluded with a call to strengthen collaboration between academia, government, and the private sector to apply climate-smart agricultural concepts on a practical level, contributing to sustainable agricultural development in Iraq.
