Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Muhannad Jawad Al-Asadi, President of the University of Basrah, and the supervision of the Technology Incubator Division at the University Presidency, the College of Arts – Educational Guidance and Psychological Counseling Unit, in cooperation with the Technology Incubator Unit, organized an awareness seminar titled “The Concept and Importance of Entrepreneurship Orientation” as part of the Entrepreneurship Week activities.
The seminar was moderated by Dr. Sarah Abdulrazzaq Zaji, with lectures delivered by Prof. Dr. Nizar Abdulmohsen Jaafar and Dr. Naima Lateef Abdullah, who discussed the definition of entrepreneurship as the practice of identifying and investing in existing opportunities to meet specific needs through the creation and management of innovative ventures.
The seminar also highlighted the main characteristics of successful entrepreneurs, including strong motivation, creativity, innovation, leadership, opportunity recognition, and self-confidence, while addressing the key factors and motivations that drive individuals toward entrepreneurship.
The seminar concluded that entrepreneurship plays a vital role in providing job opportunities and promoting business development, especially in developing countries facing high unemployment rates, emphasizing that entrepreneurs can establish their own companies and employ local labor, contributing to sustainable economic growth.
